Reminiscing The Murmurs and Friendships

I was on memory lane at this time as I remember younger days.

I used to play the guitar, mind you.  Mons reinforced it with more coaxing (that time, she was dating someone from a band) since she planned to put up a band - the two of us.  She introduced me to the band 'The Murmurs', and from then on, we practiced singing songs from that duo.

And I remember Mons wishing for a pink guitar.

I remember a time when I was still in DDC that each of us have to present something in Psychology.  The time when I was still thinking of what to do, Mons gathered up my book full of self-made poetry and chose one and started strumming.  The result was me, singing my poem with Mons music.  It was something of a feat, for both of us (although I regret to note that I'm still looking for that lost song).

There was a song from the duo that we were practicing that a neighbor heard (we were practicing in her aunt's house) and told us, it was good.  If only you can see the smile in our faces.  That song is entitled 'Carry Me Home (The Murmurs), and we were murmuring delight, obviously from the praise!

I also remember that was the time we were also thinking of going DJ, and the hoot came out when Mons said something like, 'this is 89.9 Magic FM' (89.9 and Magic FM are two different stations, but I can't remember well what FM stations she mentioned, the stations here are just example).  So you can now conclude when and where our DJ dream started and ended.

Although we never  became DJs and we never truly made a band, I think that what we have is a band of true friendship, built up in years of total confidence and each other's trust, including Rhoda, our other BFF.

We started being friends in elementary, made ninja games together, strummed and sang together, had those awkward stages of growing up and even had the chance to fame through 'Wow Bigat!' (remember the ABS CBN local show) when we won first in a Zest-O dance contest (with Ai-ai our choreographer, Neil and Don) and won the final round - hmmm, I can't remember how much we've won, but I can remember that was the first time I got my period (wink, wink).  It's been a long time, come to think of it, we've been friends for more than 20 years!

We've totally grown apart, but  our hearts have grown together.  We were such good friends in good and in bad and it's one of the things I am thankful of - having two dear friends.  And although now we three are miles apart, our specific band of friendship will definitely carry us back home, again and again.

A Day of Gifts

Yesterday was a day of gifts in my opinion.

For one, it was my grandmother's birthday, she's 92.  Bless God for she's in good health and I wish her to stay that way.  I asked her what's her secret, she told me to eat a lot of veggies and stay away from salty foods and minimize or eliminate meat, if possible.  Her food consists mainly of fish and veggies.

The other gift came from Recel.  Dear generous Recel. She gave me a pair of boots and I love it!  Along with the boots are several books - a textbook and books about faith and God.

Now that I reflect about it, it's a wonder how Recel and I became good friends.  We've never met, but we've talked a lot.  I mean, a lot.  We have so much in common in most aspects yet different in some.  I like her sincerity, her generosity, her simplicity and I admire her positivity.

It's always nice to have friends oozing with optimism because it helps you get motivated and think positive yourself.  In this day and age, we need good friends who can influence protons.

Another gift, a really surprising one, was when hubby asked me to open his Yahoo and check a specific email.  The email put a rather huge smile to my face - his going HOME today!  The email was a ticket provided by the company.  God bless companies like the one he's in right now.

Such a day of positive energy although I can't say so myself physically, but it helped me get through the day in spite of bouts of dry cough.  I had my first day of antibiotics 9 days after my primary told me to take it if and when I feel the chills or got a fever, I got both but stayed aways from the meds thinking it's seasonal.  But when I was driving and not feeling well, that's another story.  So, I took the antibiotics prescribed and although I'm still under the weather, I feel a lot better now.  More so that hubby's going home.  ^^v
