I had a 'busy' day since I was in a marathon with the Taiwanese series 'DOWN WITH LOVE'.
It was so cute! Well, I'm still not in the mode to coherence after I've watched all the 16 episodes. But I tell you this, their kissing scene was one of the best I've seen so far because each kiss has a reason and it looked so meaningful, whew! So, sharing you this video of that specific episode, and I suggest you go straight the 4:55 and start seeing my fave part (lol). I'm hooked! LOVE IT!
'That's how much you matter to me. If you could be like me, for me to matter so much to you, no matter what you ask of me, I would be willing to agree.'
EEK! I miss my hubby! Now I understand more why my hubby agrees most of the time. Sigh.
I am, I admit, have a lot of things in my hand, and I get away from them from time to time and watch series on NetFlix.
The one that caught my attention was the series Missing, which only had three seasons, and each of them good to watch. I was disappointed that after the last episode of the third season, the series was canceled. Huh?
I mean, I guess I'm one of the many viewers who will always wonder what happened next, there's not even a hint of closure. Everything was hanging, and I don't like it one bit.
I hope that somebody somewhere will continue the series. It's a good one actually, like watching CSI or Law and Order or similar series to that effect. It has a lot of angle I like, and I'm hopeful it will continue.
People behind series, I hope you'll do justice before you end something. An avid viewer will really have a time dwelling on what-ifs.
And if you do the series again, I hope it has all the old cast in it. Crossing fingers.

I'm a movie addict. Never a week passes without me looking for possible movies to watch, or just note movies in the past, present and future that's going to be next in my Must-See. And Date Night is on my list.
The trailer is so funny! I can totally relate to being married with kids, because it definitely would mean less or no privacy. No time to make-out or dine-out without the kiddos somewhere demanding your attention. Somewhere along the lines of being married, the excitement recedes and will continue to do so unless you do something about it.
As for us, our timeout was to date - watch movies together minus the kids. That alone restore some kind of euphoria (but one of the exciting things we do for laughs is tickle and wrestle each other, definitely good strength training).
On Date Night, the twists are good and the timing perfect. Farrell and Fey made a good job portraying the couple-wanting-excitement-back-in-their-lives-while-trying-to-live-through-an-adventurous-date-night-which-was-supposed-to-be-just-an-okay-one-that-turned-out-to-be-the-most-exciting-one-they've-ever-had-in-a-long-time (whew!).
God, it's hilarious! The bedroom scene where Claire (Fey) took off her mouth guard and Phil (Farrell) goes 'Yuck!'. That's totally clever and true! It just shows that marriage makes a couple too familiar with each other that yucky stuff such as portrayed isn't much of an embarrassment.
The scene with the kids made me smile knowing full well how painful it can be when your kids jumps right on you like you're part of the bed that it makes you wonder why you're still not black and blue.
And a scene where Phil shouted that they're going to die and Claire cried something about her mother-in-law. Hahaha!
Date Night Movie is a must-see not only because of the twist but because it is a definite tickle. And these days, we really need a good laugh.
Did I mention Mark Wahlberg in the film?
Oh well, this movie makes me laugh even when I'm writing this. I can't just stop smiling knowing full well how they aptly portrayed some of the core of married life in a very light and comical way without overacting the parts. Of course the twists are some of the things I don't want to ever get involve with, at least, never in my lifetime. I would just want to assimilate myself in the movie - on a night, on a date with hubby.
Hubby and I were having a conversation and it drifted to the topic of squirrels (while the Alvin and the Chipmunks were being played on TV) and I blurted out this question - What's the difference between a squirrel and a chipmunk? - we looked at each other and agreed that they are the same.
Or are they?
Well I have you know I did some research (I itched to know something about some things especially when there's a question raised and to avoid confusion and definition). Chipmunks are squirrels. Well, that's their other names. Chipmunks belong to the squirrel family scientifically known as Sciuridae and are particularly small to medium sized. They are in fact rodents (ugh, I particularly hate and fear the rat variety but I find squirrels cute). Oh well, you get the idea.
So, when I informed hubby, he reacted the way I did - aahhh. They way it should sound - so it is - kind. One more knowledge stored for life.
Thinking about it, I'm amazed to realize I basically grew up with this guys. I mean, Alvin and the Chipmunks. Eversince I can remember, I've always known their adventures, their ridiculous peskiness and the fact that their schemes were really cute and funny. With that, plus the fact their series were kid-friendly, I would want my kids to watch them.
To date, Alvin and the Chipmunks rises to make another squeak, this time in a movie, beautifully animated I can't wait for it to come out on DVD and blu ray (I seldom watch the big screen these past months) not to mention that it's in a double DVD package with a bonus disc that includes more music, mayhem and sing-alongs! This is one of those occasions that I get to see them beautifully animated, and highly defined. An addition to my growing collection of children favorites. I recommend you buy it now, let's reminisce the good times we had with them.
Come to think of it, I recalled that I do have a CD of them, a christmas CD singing those chipmunk christmas songs. Cute.
And, before I forget, there's More Munk Mayhem available in Nickjr (my son's favorite online game site) where there are games and activities to enjoy A&C (Alvin and the Chipmunks) with. Squeak!

I'm an avid moviegoer. Back home, when the movies were good, you bet I'll be finished watching them in a week. My hubby, who was not as much addicted to the big screen like me, became one. Our dates consists of movies and hotdogs. We usually catch the last hour just the two of us, sometimes, thrice a week.
But eversince we came here, we haven't stepped inside a cinema - ever. There were too many good movies we've missed, I've missed. I'd have to be content with TV (although TV here is normally like a mini-movie screen the smallest being 35" - the size of our TV - but our landlord got this TV in the living room twice as big as ours) but it never replaces the big screen. I would always opt to go to a cinema, it might be cheaper to watch it at home, but there's just the thrill of being inside the cinema (maybe because there's no distraction unless you bring your children with you and you're watching Meet the Fockers - drat - as if you'll be able to see such movies with kids in tow) and not just for popcorns (which we always have here for those 'movie moments' - and my favorite is the Orville Popcorn). I still can't figure out what exactly makes watching the big screen cool.
Ok, where was I? Ah, the title. How many movies have you seen eversince you can remember? What movies/tv shows left an impression on you?
Me, I don't remember all of them, but I sure am able to recognize them if and when I came across with them. And I do remember that one of the movies I can watch over and over again is The Sound of Music. Who doesn't? What about you?
I've always liked Johnny Depp because true to his name, his acting got depth. He's one versatile actor I always like to see in numerous movies without being biased that he should stick to a similar character since he always, always never disappoint in portraying his role.

Now that the the fourth sequel for the Pirates of the Caribbean is coming, I read from Yahoo's Movie Talk that Johnny Depp still is the Jack Sparrow BUT, Orlando Bloom will not join it.
Come to think of it, I think I can do with no Bloom, but IF that movie doesn't have Depp for Sparrow, I think the pirate can get lost at sea (me snatching his compass - remember the last scene?).
What will come of the pirate without THE specific sparrow?
I've watched Eagle Eye and I can just say that the movie is all action and I love Shia.
I would have given it a deserving A+ for action, but it's a C- on plot. I just have too many questions left unanswered.
I guess, this is one of those movies that would left you hanging to your seat (for action), and leave you hanging till it ends (for plot). Makes you question, what's going on??? It's already ended? Huh?
I just finished watching this Grey Anatomy/300 starrers and I, enjoyed every minute of it!!!

Katherine Heigl did well as her pretty self, but what amazed me was Gerard Butler's transformation! Okay, this was the second time I noticed him in a movie because the first time I recognized him was when he was garbed in Roman robes and raising his sword in 300. He was rather cute as the super frank and downright outspoken guy who speaks 'the ugly truth' about relationships and our manipulations to get the person of our list, I mean, dream.
I totally enjoyed the banters and I had a blast with all the tips. Although the ugly truth is that we can never really define the opposite sex and vice versa, but we can somehow maneuver ourselves to it. Nah, no sense at all.
Back to the movie. I especially love the scene in the restaurant where she was wearing the 'gift' that Mike (Butler) gave her. And of course, the elevator scene and the finale.
And I find Mike so endearing as he crosses the path of confusion to have felt something for Abby, and Butler did a very good job in showing and not showing those emotions! Is this his first romantic comedy? I'll be waiting for his other ones!
The movie had a good feel (after the 'too much' pressure one got to feel) and I gave it an A- (for very good - can't give it an A+ since my kids can't see it). Okay, I want to say more but my blog is of general patronage...so (whispers: Watch the movie, so you'll know what I'm talking about). Ssshh.
It is in itself an 'R' rating, but weren't there times we wish we're as spontaneous as this?
This movie might be ugly for some, but it's the truth.
I've always watched the big screen, but, tending to kids and staying at home made me miss all the movies I was supposed to see. Back home, if the movies for the week are all good, you can expect me to be in one of the cinemas, accommodating movies - just so that I can satiate my movie whims. Here's the incomplete list of movies I saw and wanted to see (regardless of when they were made)

This is a favorite, and reminds me of my high school days...don't you just love Bryan Adams? This was part of the soundtrack of the movie Robinhood - Prince of Thieves.
You might be wondering what this pic was all about...lol. I just couldn't help but blog about this because aside from being my son's favorite animation movie, there was one time he explained to me (he's 4years old) why he liked the movie. I observed that every time he watch this movie (it was always on air in Disney Channel this week) his laughter can be contagious. Well, he may seem to understand but I think it's more of the moves they did (and continuous watching made him understand over time, I guess). He said to me, "Naynay, this is naynay (ganun ganun (like this, like this), tweng! Because the mother's power is elasticity), this is dada (his dad, laki laki (big, big) muscle!), this is ate kay2 (tago tago (hide, hide - because Violet's power is being invisible) , this is me!!! (Dash - after seeing Dash he would also show me how fast he can run - without moving an inch where he stands - wink2) and of course, to complete the family, there's baby Ouri (he would portray the baby with a shout since he saw that in the finale of the movie, it was shown that jack2 got the power of mimicry and he mimicked - no less - a devil). And yes, I also enjoy seeing this.
Come to think of it, I kept repeating the parts where Julia said, ' I'm also just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her'. It's not always everyday we get to be so mushy about love and proposals. I just wanted to blog and and my favorite song was from Elvis Costelo.
To the dismay of all the fans of Prison Break, it finally folded not as nicely as we all had hope. The series was done in all four seasons (we were expecting five), with Michael with it (after all the challenges he faced breaking barriers, he succumbed to his ultimate enemy, battling his tumor), leaving behind his Sarah and son. Mahone got together with his friend (his partner), Sucre was back again and T-Bag was back in Fox River. The only good thing there was that, they all got unhitched from crimes (Sarah,Mahone, Sucre, Burrows). There's all gotta be an ending in every story, sigh. Full episodes can be seen in Fox - here.
My favorite Korean star Song Hye Kyo plays the courtesan in Hwangjin-Y. I remember the movie Memoirs of Geisha and makes me curious how SHK played the part of a courtesan. I've only seen her in Full House as wacky and her first movie as cute and safe. But being a courtesan is another thing and this I got to see!
I'm presently reading Stephanie Meyer's first series Twilight and I'm 3/4 done already. I got the hardcopies courtesy of Tess who was kind enough to buy me those hardcopies (which I repaid later) when everybody else was trying to get their own. I'm still so overwhelmed with thanks because I got hardbound copies because of her.
I first got to meet Twilight when I saw the movie, and now, as I was reading the book, I kind of think and compare it to the movie than make my own version. So, it becomes a disadvantage to see the movie first before reading. But I just need to read it.
Reading through the pages, I can now understand more which the movie has edited. I knew each character better (and their names too!) and I just recently knew what Edward was dying of before he became the gorgeous vamp and what happened to his parents, and of course, of the 300plus year old Dr. Cullen. There were scenes and conversations in the book that was put together as one in the movie. Some scenes romantic enough but I guess it would take really long to just put it in the movie (like the scenes when they exchange questions about each other and Edward said 'I love you' to Bella which I did not hear in the movie).
And there's also the infamous clumsiness of Bella that was never part of the movie, and those Edward quips for Bella to take care of herself. Sigh. Now, I find the book better, than the movie ever will. But that wouldn't stop me from seeing the movie.
NOTE:
I discovered that they changed the director of the next series, New Moon. The director of Twilight was Catherine Hardwicke and now it would be Chris Weitz (who directed the ever-boring The Golden Compass). I hope he does justice to the movie and not make it another zzzzzz...(I've linked a profile so that you can see his past accomplishments and maybe it can be justified why he got the slot).
And, I think I have not given credit to Cam Gigandet who portrayed James (He was part of the O.C. series)
Un-Twilight
And if you wanna hear what's the Twilight OST...here's the link. And I agree with what Stephenie Meyer have said:
To conclude, I would like to make a few comments about Rob and Kristen, who are the true heart of this movie. First, they are both amazing actors. Second, they are channeling Edward and Bella like nobody's business. Third, you might want to bring a paper bag to the movie, because their on-screen chemistry may cause hyperventilation. That is all.
Another movie I'm wanting to watch is the second one from Lloydie and Sarah which will be in the theaters this coming Feb. 25 (well, I think their considerate enough to give way to the other movie).
I really liked the way Sarah interpreted the song and it made me appreciate the song again...
YOU CHANGED MY LIFE IN A MOMENT
The nights the sky was filled with clouds My worried mind was filled with fears I couldn't count all the lonely hours Spent with memories and tears
I never thought I would see the day When I could throw all my sorrow away But then you came and you showed me the way You have made all those times disappear
You changed my life in a moment And I'll never be the same again You changed my life in a moment And it's hard for me to understand With a touch of your hand In a moment of time All my sorrow is gone
I never thought that I could change Could change so much in so many ways I'm still surprised when I look in my mirror To see that I still look the same
You changed my life in a moment And I'll never be the same again You changed my life in a moment And it's hard for me to understand With a touch of your hand In a moment of time All my sorrow is gone
You changed my life I'll never be the same
You changed my life in a moment And it's hard for me to understand With a touch of your hand In a moment of time All my sorrow is gone
After their hit movie For The First Time, KC and Richard got another movie coming this Feb. 14 courtesy of GMA 7 (their first team-up together was from Star Cinema). I wonder what their second movie will be about?
This wondering made me and my friends (Bing ssi, Shieryl ssi, Jojo ssi, Weng ssi, Jay ssi) to meet this coming Saturday and watch this flick with our kids! Here's the lyrics from Apo Hiking Society.
WHEN I MET YOU
There I was an empty piece of a shell, Just mindin' my own world; Without even knowin' what love and life were all about. Then you came, You brought me out of the shell; You gave the world to me And before I knew, There I was so in love with you. You gave me a reason for my being And I love what I'm feelin' You gave me a meaning to my life, Yes, I've gone beyond existing And it all began when I met you. I love the touch of your hair And when I look in your eyes I just know, I know I'm on to something good And I'm sure my love for you will endure Your love will light up my world; And take all my cares away with the aching part of me. You gave me a reason for my being And I love what I'm feelin' You gave me a meaning to my life, Yes, I've gone beyond existing And it all began when I met you. You taught me how to love, You showed me how tomorrow and today My life is diff'rent from the yesterday; And you, you taught me how to love And darling I will always cherish you Today, tomorrow and forever. And I'm sure when evening comes around I know we'll be making love like never before; My love, who could ask for more? You gave me a reason for my being And I love what I'm feelin' You gave me a meaning to my life, Yes, I've gone beyond existing And it all began when I met you. When I met you. You gave me a reason for my being And I love what I'm feelin' You gave me a meaning to my life, Yes, I've gone beyond existing And it all began when I met you. When I met you.
Waaah! This movie leaves me breathless! The scenes, especially the ones with the protagonists, grr! Makes me want to grab Edward's head closer and closer to Bella (ha, and that's my daughter's name!)
And since it still leaves me gasping for breath, now that the Harry Potter fever was off, this one's on top of my list! Gotta grab a copy of those books!
Anyway, here's some Twilight stars!
Robert Pattinson as Edward
(BTW, here's a pic of him in Harry Potter as Cedric Diggory)
Here are links to his Q&As (as well as with other Twilight Stars)
Kristen Stewart as Bella

I attended a baptismal last week (a celebration for another baby in the family) and it was ok. And as usual, food was good. Don’t we just love celebrations? Mostly because of food…not just any food, but good food. Yumyum.
Anyway, I watched Mamma Mia this evening and I just love the songs! It was all Abba and I like the way how smooth it blended with the script. It’s exactly (if I have to term it better than being apt).
The story was all about a daughter in search for her father – the thing is, she doesn’t have any idea which among the three persons written in her mother’s diary (which she discovered). And one of them will giver away on her wedding day. Okay, it’s kinda confusing as I write this one, but you better watch to find out. All I can say is that, I enjoyed watching it and hearing the songs!
PLOT
20-year-old Sophie Sheridan (Amanda Seyfried) lives with her mother Donna (Meryl Streep) in her hotel ‘Villa Donna’, on the small Greek island of Kalokairi. She wants her father present at her upcoming wedding to Sky (Dominic Cooper), but does not know his identity (I Have a Dream). Sophie confides in her friends Ali (Ashley Lilley) and Lisa (Rachel McDowall) about her potential fathers. After reading her mother's old diary, she has concluded he must be one of three men: Sam Carmichael (Pierce Brosnan), Harry Bright (Colin Firth), or Bill Anderson (Stellan Skarsgård) (Honey, Honey). She secretly sends wedding invitations to all three – under Donna’s name and that she expects to recognize her real father instantly, but when she meets all the men at once, she realizes she cannot tell which he is. She hides them from her mother and makes them promise not to reveal she invited them to the wedding.
Meanwhile, Donna bemoans to her newly-arrived friends Rosie (Julie Walters) and Tanya (Christine Baranski) the troubles of running and repairing a hotel by herself (Money, Money, Money), although she insists she is happier alone. While making repairs, she accidentally discovers the three men and panics. While trying to get another look at them and fighting a losing battle of desire versus sanity (Mamma Mia!), she falls through the trapdoor in the roof, and the men convince her that their presence there is a coincidence, honoring their promise to Sophie. A horrified Donna asks the three men to leave the island.
Tanya and Rosie try to comfort Donna after seeing her upset (Chiquitita). Donna explains that the three potential fathers are on the island, dubbing it a ‘hideous trick of fate’. Tanya and Rosie, who used to be her backing dancers in ABBA-esque girl group “Donna and the Dynamos”, remind her of her free-spirited past, and they gradually cheer her up spectacularly (Dancing Queen).
Sophie visits the three men as they prepare to leave Kalokairi, persuades them to stay for the wedding, and listens to their memories of her mother (Our Last Summer). She returns to Sky and they talk about their love (Lay All Your Love On Me) on the beach, where he is ambushed by friends from his bachelor party.
That evening, “Donna and the Dynamos” recreate their act for Sophie’s bachelorette party (Super Trouper) to entertain the guests, and Bill, Sam and Harry end up at the party by mistake. The bachelorettes pounce on the unsuspecting men at the bar (Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!).
Sophie talks to Bill alone, who realizes he could be her father, (The Name of the Game) and agrees to give her away at the wedding. Meanwhile, the others also conclude that they could be her father. Sky's bachelor party invades the hen party (Voulez-Vous), and in the commotion, each ‘father’ separately tells her that he will give her away at the wedding. In the midst of the party, Sophie faints over her dilemma.
The following day, while Donna’s friends are trying to keep the men away from the wedding, Sophie and Donna argue, as Sophie believes her mother wants her to call off the wedding, while she still resents growing up unaware of her father’s identity.
Harry feels badly for missing Sophie's upbringing, and insists that Donna accept a large monetary gift to cover the “cost of the wedding”. Sam and Donna try to talk but are increasingly frustrated with each other, and they separately lament their lost love (SOS). Tanya rejects the playful advances of younger barman Pepper (Philip Michael) and some of Sky's other friends (Does Your Mother Know).
Sophie confesses to Sky what she has done, and he becomes unsure about their coming wedding, feeling sidelined by her ‘fathers’. A distressed Sophie asks her mother if she will help her dress for the wedding (instead of her bridesmaids) and Donna agrees, thrilled. Donna reminisces about precious times to get her now grown-up daughter (Slipping Through My Fingers). Sophie asks her mother to give her away at the wedding.
En route, Donna rebuffs Sam, as she is still deeply hurt that he left her (The Winner Takes It All) and offers him to sing with her because he was engaged to another woman. She then runs away to her daughter’s wedding on the hilltop.
During the ceremony, Donna reveals that Sophie’s father (although she doesn’t know who) is present, and then realizes Sophie had invited them all. The three men declare they are all thrilled to be Sophie’s potential father, and will gladly be ‘a third of a father each’. Sophie cancels the wedding, to Sky’s delight, so that they can go traveling together instead, as they still feel too young to settle down.
Making the most of the surroundings, Sam declares he is still in love with Donna, and proposes, explaining that after leaving her 20 years ago, he went to England to break off his engagement, but returned to Kalokairi to be told she was away dating another man (Bill). He went home and got married anyway, but he is now divorced. Donna eventually says yes after learning the truth (I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do).
While Sam and Donna celebrate with their newfound family and friends (When All Is Said and Done), Rosie pursues her attraction to the (initially reluctant) Bill, (Take a Chance on Me), and it is revealed that Harry is gay. As the crowd dances in the courtyard, a tremor breaks open its central mosaic, and a tall spray rains over the party (Mamma Mia! reprise). Sophie and Sky sail away on their travels (I Have a Dream reprise), leaving Sam and Donna to live happily ever after on the island.
During the end, Donna and the Dynamos perform "Dancing Queen", and the main cast join with Waterloo. Amanda Seyfried sings Thank You for the Music over the end and every part of the credits in the world.
BTW, this movie was one of the highest opening weekend ever before High School Musical 3 replaced it...but that's another movie! And here's one of my favorite songs from the movie, Honey, Honey, happy singing!
Yesterday, my kids and I watched Wall-E. It's not as much fun as I had with the Panda, but this movie definitely leaves an infinite lesson that we all must, and must, inculcate in our minds and in our young generations.
The story of Wall-E evolves around an outdated robot left on earth to clean up the messed up Earth. For the longest time of doing his rounds, he came to a point of having the curiosity and the capability to feel and understand the things he sees around him. If I were to compare him to a human being, he's like a toddler who's curious in his surroundings, and very innocent with it. He has with him this insect, more like a pest, who goes with him in his daily rounds.
Then came Eva, or Eve, a hi-tech robot from a spaceship sent to Earth to seek, scan and deliver any living organism (especially plants for that matter) that might exist on Earth. So the story began with Wall-E's journey to find a hand to hold (which he found in Eve) and Eve, to finally having a compassion for him.
But the plot does not end there, it also evolves around finding the plant and Eve sending the said living thing to the ship (where other human beings - transferred ones - are waiting to return to Earth). Okay, this is getting too long.
The point of the film is that human beings became too dependent with technology that they forgot to live. And that continuous destruction of Mother Earth may eventually lead to what was portrayed as being the Earth shown in the film. That technology, no matter how intelligent it can be, will always be technology. Meaning, it would depend, and will always depend, on what was encoded in the software, can be pushed with a button and is not the answer to all problems.
Long ago, in a newspaper article, I read something about technology. That once upon a time, when we were still kids, how we love to play games under the moonlight, playing patintero, piko, sipa, luksong-tinik (high jump), and all other games that uses our ability to interact, reason, tactics and body to fight.
Now, when you see most children, they prefer playing online games, using only their minds, and the quickness of their hands for fighting and such. Traditional games that we adults enjoyed when we were younger were gone.
Last but not the least, I remember in the same article, and I agree with it wholeheartedly that, (as much as I can remember, not verbatim), 'Technology is here to ease our lives, not replace it'.
And in the movie Wall-E, the captain shouted: 'I do not want to survive. I want to live.' Don't we all?
