Wedding Song

I am a big fan of instrumental music. My first appreciation of this type was when I bought the tape of Kenny G's Breathless. This song was included in that album, and until this time, this is one of my most favorite albums. There's so much emotion in this melody, and the love can be felt. Listen to this melody with closed eyes, and you will know what I mean (it's part of the music I play for my kids to lull them to sleep).

Life is GOOD!

I share with you the message from the Organizer Lady that makes me feel good about everything in life.

M E S S A G E

Life is good, too good to be spending it grappling
with junk (oh, I mean valuable items of memories and
potential treasures that other people may think are
junk.) Whether we call these items junk or not, they
are junking up our lives. That is the important thing
we need to consider.

Life is good. Our focus should be on enjoying our
family and friends,on doing what makes us happy and
helps others, on living a satisfying life full of
grace and beauty, and of developing our spiritual lives.

Slow down a little. Breathe deeply. Think of what is
really important to you. Dejunk your desires to keep
too much. Loosen your grip on those ideas and feelings
that keep you in the messy zone. Leaving petty interests
behind, seek higher dreams until you find yourself
saying, "Yes, my life really is good. It's really good!"

The Prophet

I would want to share with you an interesting person in the name of KAHLIL GIBRAN, who wrote "THE PROPHET"...This is an interesting piece of work where you will get a lot of inspirations and learnings on life...very profound and worth reading...here are some chapters of that which I love most...

Love

Then said Almitra, "Speak to us of Love."
And he raised his head and looked upon the people, and there fell a stillness upon them.
And with a great voice he said:
When love beckons to you follow him,
Though his ways are hard and steep.
And when his wings enfold you yield to him,
Though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you.
And when he speaks to you believe in him,
Though his voice may shatter your dreams as the north wind lays waste the garden.
For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you. Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning.
Even as he ascends to your height and caresses your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun,
So shall he descend to your roots and shake them in their clinging to the earth.
Like sheaves of corn he gathers you unto himself.
He threshes you to make you naked.
He sifts you to free you from your husks.
He grinds you to whiteness.
He kneads you until you are pliant;
And then he assigns you to his sacred fire, that you may become sacred bread for God's sacred feast.
All these things shall love do unto you that you may know the secrets of your heart, and in that knowledge become a fragment of Life's heart.
But if in your fear you would seek only love's peace and love's pleasure,
Then it is better for you that you cover your nakedness and pass out of love's threshing-floor,
Into the seasonless world where you shall laugh, but not all of your laughter, and weep, but not all of your tears.
Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but from itself.
Love possesses not nor would it be possessed;
For love is sufficient unto love.
When you love you should not say, "God is in my heart," but rather, I am in the heart of God."
And think not you can direct the course of love, if it finds you worthy, directs your course.
Love has no other desire but to fulfill itself.
But if you love and must needs have desires, let these be your desires:
To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night.
To know the pain of too much tenderness.
To be wounded by your own understanding of love;
And to bleed willingly and joyfully.
To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving;
To rest at the noon hour and meditate love's ecstasy;
To return home at eventide with gratitude;
And then to sleep with a prayer for the beloved in your heart and a song of praise upon your lips.

Marriage

Then Almitra spoke again and said, "And what of Marriage, master?"
And he answered saying:
You were born together, and together you shall be forevermore.
You shall be together when white wings of death scatter your days.
Aye, you shall be together even in the silent memory of God.
But let there be spaces in your togetherness,
And let the winds of the heavens dance between you.
Love one another but make not a bond of love:
Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.
Fill each other's cup but drink not from one cup.
Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf.
Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone,
Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music.
Give your hearts, but not into each other's keeping.
For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts.
And stand together, yet not too near together:
For the pillars of the temple stand apart,
And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other's shadow.

Children

And a woman who held a babe against her bosom said, "Speak to us of Children."
And he said:
Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts.
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;
For even as he loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable.

Teaching

Then said a teacher, "Speak to us of Teaching."
And he said:
No man can reveal to you aught but that which already lies half asleep in the dawning of our knowledge.
The teacher who walks in the shadow of the temple, among his followers, gives not of his wisdom but rather of his faith and his lovingness.
If he is indeed wise he does not bid you enter the house of wisdom, but rather leads you to the threshold of your own mind.
The astronomer may speak to you of his understanding of space, but he cannot give you his understanding.
The musician may sing to you of the rhythm which is in all space, but he cannot give you the ear which arrests the rhythm nor the voice that echoes it.
And he who is versed in the science of numbers can tell of the regions of weight and measure, but he cannot conduct you thither.
For the vision of one man lends not its wings to another man.
And even as each one of you stands alone in God's knowledge, so must each one of you be alone in his knowledge of God and in his understanding of the earth.

Para Sa Mga Ina

This is my grandmother living in LA with my Aunt

pagsasawaang pakinggan.

Amoy matanda, amoy lupa. Huwag mo sana akong piliting maligo. Mahina na ang katawan ko.
Madaling magkasakit kapag nalamigan,

Kapag may konti kang panahon,
magkwentuhan naman tayo, kahit sandali lang. Inip na ako sa bahay, maghapong nag-iisa. Walang kausap.

Dream Big

This one I got a long time ago and I really love this.

DREAM BIG

If there were ever a time to dare, to make a difference,
to embark on something worth doing, it is NOW.

Not for any grand cause, necessarily -
but for something that tugs at your heart,
something that's your aspiration,
something that's your dream.

You owe it to yourself to make your days-here count.

Have fun. Dig Deep. Stretch. Dream big.

Know, though, those things worth doing seldom come easy.
There will be good days.
There will be times when you want to turn around, pack it up, and call it quits.
Those times tell you that you are pushing yourself that you are not afraid to learn by trying.

Persist.

Because with an idea, determination, and the right tools, you can do great things.
Let your instincts, your intellect, and your heart guide you.

Trust.

Believe in the incredible power of the human mind.
Of doing something that makes a difference.
Of working hard. Of laughing and hoping.
Of lazy afternoons. Of lasting friends.
Of all the things that will cross your path this year.
The start of something new brings the hope of something great.

Anything is possible.
There is only one you.
And you will pass this way only once.

DO IT RIGHT.

Look At the View

An excerpt from a newspaper:

***This excerpt is an eye-opener for me...for someone who was born spoiled and melodramatic, this definitely made me seek a more closer look at what I've become and what I should have been doing all along.

You are the only person who has sole custody of your life. Your particular life. Your entire life, a life of your heart, of your soul.

Here is my resume. I am a good mother to three children. I have tried never to let my profession stand in the way of being a good parent. I no longer consider myself the center of the universe. I show up. I listen. I try to laugh. I am a good friend to my husband. I have tried to make marriage vows mean what they say. I show up. I listen. I try to laugh. I am a good friend to my friends, and they to me. Without them, there would be nothing to say to you today, because I would be a cardboard cutout. But I call on the phone, and I meet them for lunch. I show up. I listen. I try to laugh. I would be rotten or at best mediocre at my job, if those other things were not true. You cannot really first rate at your work if your work is all you are.

Get a life. A real life, not a manic pursuit of the next promotion, the bigger paycheck, the larger house. Do you think you'd care so very much about those things if you blew an aneurysm one afternoon, or found a lump in your breast?

Get a life in which you notice the smell of salt water pushing itself on a breeze, a life in which you stop and watch how a red tailed hawk circles over the water gap or the way a baby scowled with concentration when she tries to pick up a Cheerio with her thumb and first finger. Get a life in which you are not alone.

Find people you love, and who love you. And remember that love is not leisure, it is work. Each time you look at your diploma, remember that you are still a student, still learning how to best treasure your connection to others.

Pick up the phone. Send an email. Write a letter. Kiss your mom. Hug your dad. Get a life in which you are generous. Look around at the azaleas in the suburban neighborhood where you grew up; look at a full moon hanging silver in a black, black sky on a cold night. And realize that life is the best thing ever, and that you have no business taking it for granted. Care so deeply about its goodness that you want to spread it around.

It is so easy to waste our lives; it is so easy to take (anything) for granted. It is easy to exist than to live.

I learned to live many years ago. Something really, really bad happened to me, something that changed my life in ways that, if I had druthers, it would never have been changed at all. And what I learned from it is what, today, seems to be the hardest lesson of all. I learned to love the journey, not the destination. I learned that it is not a dress rehearsal, and that today is the only guarantee you get. I learned to look at all the good in the world and try to give some back because I believed in it completely and utterly.

Learn to be happy. I tried to do that, in part, by telling others what I had learned. Think of life as a terminal illness because if you do, you will live it with joy and passion as it ought to be lived.

I found one of my best teachers on the boardwalk at Coney Island maybe 15 years ago. It was December, and I was doing a story about how the homeless survive in the winter months. Most of the time he stayed on the boardwalk, facing the water, just the way we were sitting now even when it got cold and he had to wear his newspapers after he read them. And I asked why? Why didn't he go to one of the shelters? And he just stared out at the ocean and said, "Look at the view, young lady. Look at the view."

And everyday, in some little way, I try to do what he said. I try to look at the view. And that's the last thing I have to tell you today, words of wisdom from a man with not a dime in his pocket, no place to go, nowhere to be. Look at the view. You'll never be disappointed.

Time

I read this in a management book in college and up to now, it holds true to anything I think we have in this world. The book was written by Voltaire, and his character named Zadig, got it in one scope.

TIME GONE (click image to zoom)
© Thinkart | Dreamstime.com

Excerpt from Zadig, A Mystery of Faith (Voltaire)

“What, of all things in the world,
is the longest and the shortest,
the swiftest and the slowest,
the most divisible and the most extended,
the most neglected and the most regretted,
without which nothing can be done,
which devours all that is little and enlivens all that is great?”

Answer: TIME.

Nothing is longer, since it is the measure of eternity.
Nothing is shorter, since it is insufficient for the accomplishment of our projects.
Nothing is more slow to him that expects; nothing more rapid to him that enjoys.
In greatness, it extends to infinity; in smallness, it is infinitely divisible.
All men neglect it; all regret the loss of it; nothing can be done without it.
It consigns to oblivion whatever is unworthy of being transmitted to posterity,
and it immortalizes such actions as are truly great.

MoonRiver

I LOVE THIS SONG. Every time I hear this song, I go all poignant and I feel peace within me. We had a CD of this one by Andy Williams, and I love the instrumental piece too. I never knew that this was a part of the Breakfast at Tiffany's, I only knew of that fact when I was watching Kate and Leopold since there was a scene there that an old man listen to the same song every night at 12 midnight and sleep afterwards when the music stops. So, romantic.

I have three versions here, one from the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's with Audrey Hepburn and the other one was acoustic- I don't know who sang it but I love it! (And the last one is piano instrumental). Take your pick!

Moon River, wider than a mile,
I'm crossing you in style some day.
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker,
wherever you're going I'm going your way.
Two drifters off to see the world.
There's such a lot of world to see.
We're after the same rainbow's end--
waiting 'round the bend,
my huckleberry friend,
Moon River and me.

Read Terms and Conditions Before You Agree!!!

I visited Gina's Rain Angel Chronicle, and I was shocked and agreeing with what she said. The Net definitely came to mind, and all my clicks on 'I agree' made me stop for a moment. From now, no more net clicks (ok, that's an overstatement), but I will be very careful now on everything that I will be agreeing about. I should, because we've been victims. My hubby's debit card was used and we just recently reported it to the bank. Now, we are filing claims for the amount that culprit made in our account. It's shocking since we stopped using the card (for savings purposes) and then we see our money being spent - DAILY! There was even one purchase amounting to 81 dollars! Here, it's a lot of money. I hope they can do something about it. Even if we don't get back our cash, just that our card won't be compromised.

Warren Buffet

I had the chance to read this through email and I was really inspired by this man. We live in a modern world and with that came modern temporal wants, and we are inspired to do our best to have more of what we think is necessary. And sometimes, because of trying so hard to have it all, we forgot to really live.

Ok, he's an exemption.

More on Wikipedia

There was a one hour interview on CNBC with Warren Buffet, the second richest man who has donated $31 billion to charity. Here are some very interesting aspects of his life:

  1. He bought his first share at age 11 and he now regrets that he started too late!
  2. He bought a small farm at age 14 with savings from delivering newspapers.
  3. He still lives in the same small 3-bedroom house in mid-town Omaha that he bought after he got married 50 years ago. He says that he has everything he needs in that house. His house does not have a wall or a fence.
  4. He drives his own car everywhere and does not have a driver or security people around him.
  5. He never travels by private jet, although he owns the world's largest private jet company.
  6. His company, Berkshire Hathaway, owns 63 companies.
    1. He writes only one letter each year to the CEOs of these companies, giving them goals for the year.
    2. He never holds meetings or calls them on a regular basis.
    3. He has given his CEO's only two rules.
      1. Rule number 1: do not lose any of your share holder's money.
      2. Rule number 2: Do not forget rule number 1.
  1. He does not socialize with the high society crowd. His past time after he gets home is to make himself some pop corn and watch Television.
  2. Bill Gates, the world's richest man met him for the first time only 5 years ago. Bill Gates did not think he had anything in common with Warren Buffet. So he had scheduled his meeting only for half hour. But when Gates met him, the meeting lasted for ten hours and Bill Gates became a devotee of Warren Buffet.
  3. Warren Buffet does not carry a cell phone, nor has a computer on his desk.

His advice to young people:

"Stay away from credit cards and invest in yourself and Remember:

Money doesn't create man but it is the man who created money.

Live your life as simple as you are.

Don't do what others say, just listen to them, but do what you feel good.

Don't go on brand name; just wear those things in which u feel comfortable.

Don't waste your money on unnecessary things; Just spend on them who really in need rather.

After all it's your life then why give chance to others to rule our life."

Live and Love

ONE. Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.

TWO. Marry a man/woman you love to talk to. As you get older, their conversational skills will be as important as any other.

THREE. Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want.

FOUR. When you say, "I love you," mean it.

FIVE. When you say, "I'm sorry," look the person in the eye.

SIX. Be engaged at least six months before you get married.

SEVEN. Believe in love at first sight.

EIGHT. Never laugh at anyone's dream. People who don't have dreams don't have much.

NINE. Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it's the only way to live life completely.

TEN. In disagreements, fight fairly. No name calling.

ELEVEN. Don't judge people by their relatives.

TWELVE. Talk slowly but think quickly.

THIRTEEN. When someone asks you a question you don't want to answer, smile and ask, "Why do you want to know?"

FOURTEEN. Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk.

FIFTEEN. Say "bless you" when you hear someone sneeze.

SIXTEEN. When you lose, don't lose the lesson .

SEVENTEEN. Remember the three R's: Respect for self; Respect for others; and responsibility for all your actions.

EIGHTEEN. Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.

NINETEEN. When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.

TWENTY. Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice.

TWENTY-ONE. Spend some time alone.

Rapid Searches

I love korean music and I found a site that offers exactly that. You can download it through rapidshare and then you can repeat it over and over again. I like it because you can download free stuff. And what I discovered which is better is the Rapidshare Search since you can see most of the things that are being downloaded, or search through there, and alas, when you click the link, they give you a list of downloadable files! It's pretty cool really because it save time and effort just by looking for specific downloads, just type exactly what you want, and there you have a list. You're effort, which of those in the list is best for you.

Magazine Clips

I like reading magazines, and when I have the time and the day, I usually take note of the things I really like out of that mag I read. I want to share with you some things I've read in the Parenting magazine (June 2007 issue), in a capsule:
  • Save the doodles and scribbles of your kids with digital camera and make it a screen saver than with a closet full of it. By Katy Cook
  • 4 Things You Can't Just Teach A Kid: 1. Flowers don't taste as good as they smell. 2. You can't save an ice pop under you your bed. 3. Pushing the elevator button seven times doesn't make it come any faster. 4. The bathroom has a door for a reason. By Deborah Skolnik
  • Greener cleaning by using cleaners that is environmentally friendly and not hazardous to health. 1. Air out by leaving windows open as you clean (if you can't avoid using cleaners). 2. Buy 'green' alternatives like Seventh Generation and Mrs. Meyer's. Or look for products with the terms biodegradable, plant-based, hypoallergenic, formulated without dye or synthetic fragrance, non-flammable, does not contain chlorine, phosphate, petroleum, ammonia, acids, alkalized solvents, nitrites or borates. 3. Make your own by mixing baking soda and distilled white vinegar for toilet scrubbing, distilled white vinegar mixed with warm water for hardwood floors and using vegetable -based soap with lavender oil for antiseptic cleaning spray. 4. Do what you can by using green cleaners and learn more by visiting householdproducts.nlm.nih.gov. By Rachel Rabkin Pechman
  • Repellents with DEET are safe for children according to AAP. They're most effective against mosquitos and other insects like ticks. 10% for 2 hours protection, 30% - the safest for children - lasts up to 5 hours. You can also use picaridin, lemon eucalyptus oil (safe for children over 3), or 2% soybean oil. Remember to apply it by hand. By Dr. McCarthy
  • Best sites for buying clothes. Shopstyle.com; Shopittome.com; kidstockmontana.com/sizing.html
  • Have a happy feet by exfoliating with sugar or salt scrub to remove dry skin and soften feet, then massage with cuticle oil with vitamin E and then file nails.

Characteristics of a Snake

Depth and charisma make the Snake a formidable presence. What you see is not what you get. The Snake's many interests and insatiable thirst for knowledge result in an increasingly complex persona. Furthermore, with the Snake's penchant for secrecy, they're not likely to let us see how much is there is to know about them. More than any other sign, the Snake knows how to present itself, when it wants, in the most favorable light. The downside of this is that the Snake is likely to tire of and discard lesser mortals. An even bigger danger is the Snake believes in revenge; so, don't cross them. Like the Dragon, the Snake is a karmic sign and likely to experience lots of extreme highs and lows in their lives.

Positive Traits : Alert, calm, charismatic, cultivated, curious, decisive, intuitive, refined, reflective, soft spoken, tenacious, and wise.

Negative Traits: Demanding, extravagant, fickle, high strung, impatient, indulgent, jealous, lazy, possessive, stingy, suspicious, vengeful.

Qualities Admired: Power and quality itself

Pet Peeves: Crossing or disturbing them

Characteristics of a Rabbit

Pacifistic and refined, the Rabbit tends to have excellent taste, enjoys the finer things in life and loves to go first class. The Rabbit does its best to promote peace and harmony and to avoid conflict and unpleasantness whenever possible. They are discreet, easy-going and make for good company. On the downside, they can be snobbish and prone to gossip. Also, the Rabbit is the sign that finds it the hardest to pick itself up off the floor when knocked down by adversity. Although a social creature, the Rabbit enjoys the quiet life and tends to be conservative. Their comfort is very important to them, and they are likely to whine when it's disturbed.

Positive Traits : Artistic, calm, diplomatic, gentle, kind, modest, peaceful, placid, refined, sensitive, suave, thoughtful

Negative Traits: conceited, detached, gossipy, manipulative, melancholic, moody, opportunistic, snobbish, superficial, sybaritic, and timid.

Qualities Admired: Genteelness and calmness of soul

Pet Peeves: Arguing, anything else that disturbs their peace

Safety First

Hubby got a load full of things to do when it comes to his field of work. There are certain times he needed a sturdy pair of gloves since some tasks needs to be carried (without hurting his hands in the process). I sometimes worry about how callused his hands are and I kept telling him to buy some protective pairs of gloves so that he won't complain about his hands.

One time, I saw him with a big cut on his left hand. He said that the culprit was one of the big wires he was trying to deform and one of the wires snapped. The worried me thought of tetanus and infection, but I was so thankful that the wound healed in a few days without complication.

After that incident, I prodded him to buy gloves. The one that I saw in Legion Safety Products was one of the few gloves that met the criteria I was looking for. It's a Dyneema gloves that's silicone-free and polymer coated which made it cut-resistant (I had to make sure of its quality because I don't like seeing those kind of wounds again).

Well, he bought the gloves (at a reasonable price, mind you). Him safe and protected, me worry-free.

When Recharging

Do not charge your mobile phone the whole night and DON'T keep it near you while charging. IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ IMMEDIATELY!

I HOPE YOU'RE NOT DOING THIS!!! Never, ever answer a cell phone while it is being RECHARGED!!

A few days ago, a person was recharging his cell phone at home. Just at that time, a call came in and he answered it with the instrument still connected to the outlet. After a few seconds, electricity flowed into the cell phone unrestrained and the young man was thrown to the ground with a heavy thud. His parents rushed to the room only to find him unconscious, with a weak heartbeat and burnt fingers.

He was rushed to the nearby hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival. Cell phones are a very useful modern invention. However, we must be aware that it can also be an instrument! of death. Never use the cell phone while it is hooked to the electrical outlet!

10 Minutes

Set a timer for ten minutes and attack a hot spot with a vengeance.

I've done this and it's quite amazing how much you can organize in a matter of ten minutes. I do this every time it's too messy and I'm not quite in the mood to get things done (meaning I get lazy just seeing the mess). And having a timer makes it more fun since it's like a racing game for me. More in less time!

With moms like us who have kids (especially when the household is mostly male), we tend to overdo cleaning messes (which I did at most times, and I'm still trying to avoid making it a habit since it can be frustrating that the moment you cleaned or arranged a spot, here comes the mess again, no matter how you try to explain and remind that they should clean as they go).

30 Second Habit Rule Explained:

Sometimes when I mention that if something takes 30 seconds or less to do that we should determine not to put it off, people object. "If I start doing everything that takes thirty seconds, I will work myself to a nub." And that is true. If our house is a mess we have many, many little jobs that could be done in 30 seconds. Too many to make it impractical to do them all.

So let's limit how we apply it. The thirty second rule needs to be applied in two ways only.

The first place we should apply it is with what happens in the future. Don't go back to try to catch up with everything. FROM NOW ON hang up your jacket immediately when you take it off. Take the coffee cup from the living room to the kitchen. Put up the mayonnaise and throw away the used tea bag. Return the tool to its home. And the like.

The second place we should apply the thirty second rule is with those that are high priority needs. There are probably a few important little jobs that have been neglected for a long time and would only take thirty seconds to get them out of the way. The non priority tasks can be cared for as you go about your organizing plan or routine.

So the idea is this: Apply the 30 second rule beginning now into the future and to priority jobs that need attention now.

Corporate Lessons

Corporate Lesson 1

A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up her shower when the doorbell rings. The wife quickly wraps herself in a towel and runs downstairs. When she opens the door, there stands Bob, the next door neighbor. Before she says a word, Bob says, "I'll give you $800 to drop that towel."

After thinking for a moment, the woman drops her towel and stands naked in front of Bob. After a few seconds, Bob hands her $800 dollars and leaves. The woman wraps back up in the towel and goes back upstairs. When she gets to the bathroom, her husband asks, "Who was that?" "It was Bob the next door neighbor," she replies. Great!" the husband says, "Did he say anything about the $800 he owes me?"

Moral of the story: If you share critical information pertaining to credit and risk with your shareholders in time, you may be in a position to prevent avoidable exposure.

Corporate Lesson 2

A priest offered a lift to a Nun. She got in and crossed her legs, forcing her gown to reveal a leg. The priest nearly had an accident. After controlling the car, he stealthily slid his hand up her leg.

The nun said, "Father, remember Psalm 129?"

The priest removed his hand. But, changing gears, he let his hand slide up her leg again.

The nun once again said, "Father, remember Psalm 129?"

The priest apologized, "Sorry sister but the flesh is weak."

Arriving at the convent, the nun went on her way. On his arrival at the church, the priest rushed to look up Psalm 129.

It said, "Go forth and seek, further up, you will find glory."

Moral of the story: If you are not well informed in your job, you might miss a great opportunity.

Corporate Lesson 3

A sales rep, an administration clerk, and the manager are walking to lunch when they find an antique oil lamp. They rub it and a Genie comes out. The Genie says, "I'll give each of you just one wish."

"Me first! Me first!" says the admin. clerk. "I want to be in the Bahamas, driving a speedboat, without a care in the world" Poof! She's gone.

"Me next! Me next!" says the sales rep. "I want to be in Hawaii, relaxing on the beach with my personal masseuse, an endless supply of Pina Coladas, and the love of my life." Poof! He's gone.

"OK, you're up," the Genie says to the manager. The manager says, "I want those two back in the office after lunch."

Moral of the story: Always let your boss have the first say.

Corporate Lesson 4

A crow was sitting on a tree, doing nothing all day. A rabbit asked him, "Can I also sit like you and do nothing all day long?"

The crow answered: "Sure, why not."

So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the crow, and rested. A fox jumped on the rabbit and ate it.

Moral of the story: To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very high up.

Corporate Lesson 5

A turkey was chatting with a bull. "I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree," sighed the turkey, but I haven't got the energy."

"Well, why don't you nibble on my droppings?" replied the bull. "They're packed with nutrients."

The turkey pecked at a lump of dung and found that it gave him enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree.

The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch. Finally after a fourth night, there he was proudly perched at the top of the tree.

Soon he was spotted by a farmer, who shot the turkey out of the tree.

Moral of the story: Bullshit might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there.

Headache!

True. When I first read this email, it made me laugh hard. Waah!!! Sakit sa ulo!!!!

The!

We' ve been friends for a long time ago. We come from the same alma mother. Actually, our paths crossed one time on another. But it's only now that I gave him a second look. I realized that beauty is in the eyes. The pulpbits of my heart went fast, really fast. Cute pala siya. And then, he came over with me. He said, "I hope you don't mine. Can I get your number?" Nag-worry ako. What if he doesn't give it back? He explained naman na it's so we could keep intact daw. Sabi ko, connect me if i'm wrong but are you asking me ouch? Nabigla siya. Sagot niya, The! Aba! Parang siya pa ang galit! Persona ingrata!!! Ang kapal niya! I cried buckles of tears.

Na-guilty yata siya. Sabi niya, isipin mo na lang na this is a blessing in the sky. Irregardless daw of his feelings, we'll go ouch na rin. Now, we're so in love. Mute and epidemic na ang past. Thanks God we swallowed our fried. Kasi, I'm 33 na and I'm running our time. After 2 weeks, he plopped the question. "Will you marriage me?" I'm in a state of shocked. Kasi mantakin mo, when it rains, it's four! This is true good to be true. So siyempre, I said yes. Love is a many splendor.

Pero nung inaayos ko na ang aming kasal, everything swell to pieces. Nag-di-dinner kami noon nang biglang sa harap ng aming table, may babaeng humirit ng, "Well, well, well. Look do we hav e here." What the fuss! The nerd ng babaeng yon! She said they were still on. So I told her, whatever is that, cut me some slacks! I didn't want this to get our hand kaya I had to sip it in the bud. She accused me of steeling her boyfriend. Ats if! I don't want to portrait the role of the other woman. Gosh, tell me to the marines! I told her, "please, mine you own business!" Who would believe her anyway?

Dahil it's not my problem anymore but her problem anymore, tumigil na rin siya ng panggugulo. Everything is coming up daisies. I'm so happy. Even my boyfriend said liketwice. He's so supportive. Sabi niya, "Look at is this way. She's our of our lives."

Kaya advise ko sa inyo - take the risk. You can never can tell. Just burn the bridge when you get there. Life is shorts. If you make a mistake, we'll just pray for the internal and external repose of your soul. I second emotion.

"open up to the wisdom rather than the conflict of things...
see life's exquisiteness rather than its incongruities
scale the mountain rather than just stare at it..."

Jack's Ridge

If you've ever been to Jack's Ridge, you'll be able to see most of Davao City. Now, it's vice-versa, looking up. It's a good place to go on a date, romantic as it is overlooking Davao. Better to go there at night, with the cool air and the lights all over the city is within your sight!

Gassy Trip

***Got this from a friend...this is really funny!

One day I met a sweet gentleman and fell in love. When it became apparent that we would marry, I made the supreme sacrifice and gave up beans.

Some months later, on my birthday, my car broke down on the way home from work. Since I lived in the countryside I called my husband and told him that I would be late because I had to walk home.

On my way, I passed by a small diner and the odor of baked beans was more than I could stand. With miles to walk, I figured that I would walk off any ill effects by the time I reached home, so I stopped at the diner and before I knew it, I had consumed three large orders of baked beans.

All the way home, I made sure that I released all the gas.

Upon my arrival, my husband seemed excited to see me and exclaimed delightedly: "Darling I have a surprise for dinner tonight."

He then blindfolded me and led me to my chair at the dinner table. I took a seat and just as he was about to remove my blindfold, the telephone rang. He made me promise not to touch the blindfold until he returned and went to answer the call.

The baked beans I had consumed were still affecting me and the pressure was becoming most unbearable, so while my husband was out of the room I seized the opportunity, shifted my weight to one leg and let one go. It was not only loud, but it smelled like a fertilizer truck running over a skunk in front of a pulpwood mill. I took my napkin from my lap and fanned the air around me vigorously Then, shifting to the other cheek, I ripped off three more. The stink was worse than cooked cabbage.

Keeping my ears carefully tuned to the Conversation in the other room, I went on like this for another few minutes. The pleasure was indescribable. When eventually the telephone farewells signaled the end of my freedom, I quickly fanned the air a few more times with my napkin, placed it on my lap and folded my hands back on it feeling very relieved and pleased with myself.

My face must have been the picture of innocence when my husband returned, apologizing for taking so long. He asked me if I had peeked through the blindfold, and I assured him I had not.

At this point, he removed the blindfold, and twelve dinner guests seated around the table chorused: "Happy Birthday!"

I fainted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not A Towel

I tell you, this is a dog, not a paper towel...

Bedbugs

Don’t you just hate it when you know there might be bed bugs under your bed or even on it? And that your blood is being sucked out without knowing it (bedbugs are bloodsuckers)? So, if a common household got these teeny weeny bloodsuckers, isn’t it time to know something about bed bugs, especially how to get exterminate them?

Firewall for PC

These days, there are too many viruses looming around the net. If you are not cautious, the next thing you knew, your computer is already loaded with these brutal, wicked little monsters. The only way to avoid this is a firewall installation for your computer. That way, you know that your computer is secure. I think I need one since I’m downloading too much.

Mechanic Lien

What is mechanic lien? A query made by a curious student when this was posed by a co-teacher in a Law subject. For the record, mechanic lien is a “bind” against a property that will allow the following: a foreclosure action if it becomes unpaid, thus, forcing the sale of a home; double payment for the same job, if the prime contractor does not pay the supplier or subcontractor; a mar on the title of the property that can impinge the homeowner’s ability to do anything to the property (i.e. sell, refinance, borrow against). If that happens, there are legal representatives that can help in pursuing such actions; if it happens that you’re one of the contractors or if you are the property owner. If you are the property owner, you can avoid such technicality by ensuring your contractor’s permits and certifications, double-checking the details of the written contract which should include the payment schedules and the identification of the contractors and the suppliers, keeping track of the paper works and more importantly, having joint checks which will guarantee that both parties will be paid since both of these parties have to endorse the said instrument. In any case, better know your contractors.

Reproductive Solutions

A great deal of women out there, especially those well-off ones, cannot seem to bear a child. If they can, there are possibilities that they will have a hard time bearing again. I have seen a lot of my colleagues who happen to be in such a state – they either has only one son or daughter or they don’t have at all. It is such a difficult position to be when you wanted to have a family and you can’t. I have read about IVF PGD (with IVF as in vitro fertilization and PGD means pre-implantation genetic diagnosis) and I think that can really help. A social contact suggested Dr. Randy Morris, who specializes in infertility and reproductive medicine. I think he can suggest ways and enlighten some of my friends’ fraught minds and somehow establish new beginnings to these wanting-to-be mothers.

The Husband Store

A store that sells husbands has just opened in New York City, where a woman may go to choose a husband. Among the instructions at the entrance is a description of how the store operates. You may visit the store ONLY ONCE!

There are six floors and the attributes of the men increase as the shopper ascends the flights. There is, however, a catch. ... You may choose any man from a particular floor, or you may choose to go up a floor, but you cannot go back down except to exit the building! So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband.

On the first floor the sign on the door reads:

Floor 1 - These men have jobs and love the Lord. The woman shrugs and goes up to the next floor the 2nd floor sign reads:

Floor 2 - These men have jobs, love the Lord, and love kids. Hmmm, I wonder what kind of man comes next...

The third floor sign reads:

Floor 3 - These men have jobs, love the Lord, love kids, and are extremely good looking.

"Wow," she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going.

She goes to the fourth floor and sign reads:

Floor 4 - These men have jobs, love the Lord, love kids, are drop-dead good looking and help with the housework. "Oh, mercy me!" she
exclaims, "I can hardly stand it!"

Still, she goes to the fifth floor and sign reads:

Floor 5 - These men have jobs, love the Lord, love kids, are drop- dead gorgeous, help with the housework, and have a strong romantic streak.

She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the sixth floor and the sign reads:

Floor 6 - You are visitor 4,363,012 to this floor. There are no men on this floor. This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to please.

Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store. Watch your step as you exit the building, and have a nice day!

Humility and Confidence

CONFIDENCE IN FUTURE © Petro Dreamstime.com

It is important
that you strive for humility,
but not humiliation;
for a cool, level-headed confidence,
not a stiff, delusional arrogance.
