Cause and Effect

Some cause happiness wherever they go;
others, whenever they go.

Oscar Wilde (1854-1900)
I think one application to this rule was the recent death of a father in a big family. My mom told me she did not see anybody shedding tears. There were some who were laughing or smiling. That bad?
I asked her what could be the problem, she said that long time ago, this dead father were a terror, who physically abuses his wife and children, to the optimum level. Then how come it never came up?
This seems to be a problem with well-known and well-off families as they wouldn't want their name to be damage or marked with bad notions...so sad.

PC Problem Solver

I've acquired my computer for over some years now. The truth is, at this point in time, my computer is really not doing well. I know it's just about the processor, but I think over time and with downloading (specially when my daughter downloads without my permission), there might be viruses lurking somewhere in my software. It really a never ending worry on my part since I've got too much files that are really important and I didn't even have the time to make a backup (I'm so busy). Not to mention there are still shots that I've save and in the process of organizing and saving and editing. I depend so much on my computer that I do not know what I will do if it crashes (God forbid!).

I know I've got to stop this worrying over my computer. I've got to take actions to save these files and documents. How?

My friend, who got the same problem told me to get a Computer Virus Protection (well, I've done it but there are times that it seems not enough). She told me about cyber defender that not only helps with the products but also analyzes possible threats hiding behind the documents. Aside from that, it prevents theft of identity as well as examine and calculate risk levels (mine is average, but that says something). And with technicians who can help solve pc problems thru the phone. Yeah, I better call them ASAP.

Walk for A Cause

Before I begin with my campaign, let’s all have a little talk about Alzheimer’s. What exactly is Alzheimer’s?

Alzheimer’s is the common type of dementia. It is a brain disorder characterized by forgetfulness (since brain cells gets damaged) and is a progressive and fatal disease. Currently, no cure is available for it, and more and more people seem to be getting the disease, statistics and researchers have found out.

How to avoid such disorder? Healthy lifestyle for one and be mentally active, although genes is also an important factor. Now the campaign.

Alzheimer’s Association has started the campaign of Alzheimer’s awareness and a memory walk to put an end to Alzheimer’s. You have two options, start your own team or join one. Well, I’m no team captain, but I do have in mind who I wanted to lead our own team (my hubby and the kids and our closest friends – it says there get 3 members and those 3 members can invite one equals 7).

Personally, I wanted to join such events as I am an advocate of anything humane, leading to common good but nothing political. I’ve been wanting to become a part of the Peace Corps or something, dive and clean the coral reefs, travel and help ailing nations (be like Angelina Jolie, for that matter), and sometimes, even think of becoming a missionary.

Since at this point in time, I don’t have enough courage nor is a resource for such ideals; this Alzheimer's Memory Walk is just fine. And the fact that I have to walk, not run (like when I joined a fun run that took my breath away – literally).

I welcome anyone to join me in this event, as it is really a hope that people become conscious of this disorder and hopefully, reduce it.

Quote of the Day

Inspiring quote of the day:

"Hindi ako tamad.
Di ko lang alam kung saan ko ibubuhos kasipagan ko."

I am not lazy.
I just don't know where to put all my energy.

Yeah! Need I say more?

Some George Carlin's Witty Quotes

Honesty may be the best policy,
but it’s important to remember that apparently,
by elimination, dishonesty is the second-best policy.

I think the duty of a comedian is to find out
where the line is drawn and cross it deliberately.

doesn’t it follow that electricians can be delighted, musicians denoted?

Hardworking Man

A man was sick and tired of going to work every day while his wife stayed home, easy. He wanted her to see what he went through everyday and so he prayed:

"Dear Lord: I go to work every day and put in 8 hours while my wife merely stays at home. I want her to know what I go through, so please allow her body to switch with mine for a day. Amen.

God, in his infinite wisdom, granted the man's wish. The next morning, sure enough, the man awoke as a woman. He arose, cooked breakfast for his mate, awakened the kids, set out their school clothes, fed them breakfast, packed their lunches, drove them to school, came home and picked up the dry cleaning, took it to the cleaners and stopped at the bank to make a deposit, went grocery shopping, then drove home to put away the groceries, paid the bills and balanced the check book. He cleaned the cat's litter box and bathed the dog. Then it was already 1P.M. and he hurried to make the beds, do the laundry, vacuum, dust, and sweep and mop the kitchen floor. Ran to the school to pick up the kids and got into an argument with them on the way home. Set out milk and cookies and got the kids organized to do their homework, then set up the ironing board and watched TV while he did the ironing. At 4:30 he began peeling potatoes and washing vegetables for salad, breaded the pork chops and snapped fresh beans for supper.

After supper, he cleaned the kitchen, ran the dishwasher, folded laundry, bathed the kids, and put them to bed. At 9 P.M. he was exhausted and, though his daily chores weren't finished, he went to bed where he was expected to make love, which he managed to get through without complaint.

The next morning, he awoke and immediately knelt by the bed and said: - "Lord, I don't know what I was thinking. I was so wrong to envy my wife's being able to stay home all day. Please, oh! Oh! Please, let us trade back."

The Lord, in his infinite wisdom, replied: "My son, I feel you have learned your lesson and I will be happy to change things back to the way they were. You'll just have to wait nine months, though. You got pregnant last night."

Be My Bra

At my age, it is a wonder I’m still into a lot of hobbies, including anime and games. When I have the time, and when I want to relax, a game or two, it may be online or a downloaded one, is one getaway of mine.

It is supposed that games are only for the young, but, nowadays, there are a lot of games that caters to the young at heart too. This is especially true with online games, where there are a lot of stuff that’s really fun.

I, for one, still like to play dress up doll but upgraded this time since I can do it online (when I was younger I would make the doll and make the dresses). And those makeovers where you can put on make up and assess your prowess in makeovers.

Lol…there are really loads of stuff you can play online. Decorate, dress up, makeovers are just among those. There are online games like in mylifetimeDOTcom, I had fun with their puzzle pieces game, so easy but so addicting. And, I had fun with the game called Be My Bra, with an awareness campaign for breast cancer. Curious? That got me too.

The Most Important

The most important thing is
to be able at any moment
to sacrifice what we are
for what we could become.

Movie: Serendipity

Sharing with you an obituary made by Dean to his bestfriend, Jonathan (remember, in the last parts of the movie, Dean gave Jonathan a piece of paper - I just love this one):
Jonathan Trager, prominent television producer for ESPN, died last night from complications of losing his soul mate and his fiancĂ©e. He was 35 years old. Soft-spoken and obsessive, Trager never looked the part of a hopeless romantic. But, in the final days of his life, he revealed an unknown side of his psyche. This hidden quasi-Jungian persona surfaced during the Agatha Christie-like pursuit of his long reputed soul mate, a woman whom he only spent a few precious hours with. Sadly, the protracted search ended late Saturday night in complete and utter failure. Yet even in certain defeat, the courageous Trager secretly clung to the belief that life is not merely a series of meaningless accidents or coincidences. Uh-uh. But rather, it’s a tapestry of events that culminate in an exquisite, sublime plan. Asked about the loss of his dear friend, Dean Kansky, the Pulitzer Prize-winning author and executive editor of the New York Times, described Jonathan as a changed man in the last days of his life. "Things were clearer for him," Kansky noted. Ultimately Jonathan concluded that if we are to live life in harmony with the universe, we must all possess a powerful faith in what the ancients used to call "fatum", what we currently refer to as destiny.

Finally!

At long last, I can finally edit HTML of my layout. I can somehow manage through the complicated XML and thus made some changes from the layout I borrowed from Free Blogger Skins. Sigh!

Shhh...I'm procrastinating...and this is my way of doing it - don't ask me what my to-do list is, don't want to think of it now...^^v

Homeschool

I encountered a friend blogger who opted her sons to be homeschooled. WOW! That's really impressive, and a task I wanted to take. I got curious with homeschooling and I wanted to propose hubby with the idea since it is being done in the States. One positive note of homeschooling is the fact that you can control the social contacts your children will encounter (talking about protectiveness). And I think, a home school program can be diverse too, and there are a lot of things that can be discussed. The question is, will my children agree with my idea? What about hubby? Hope so.

A Child is Born

News! News!

Remember that Beatie guy/gal that chose to undergo artificial insemination to get pregnant - was once tagged as a 'pregnant man'? She now gave birth to a bouncing baby girl! I am still biased in my opinion to what her choices were excluding her child. But I do understand when she said that ' having a child is not about a male/female desire - but a human need'. I'm a mom of three, if I was presented with the idea of getting married without children - I cannot imagine myself not having children. It felt that marriage life is about starting a family - a child is the completion of a family - and that is exactly what she did.
