Reminiscing The Murmurs and Friendships

I was on memory lane at this time as I remember younger days.

I used to play the guitar, mind you.  Mons reinforced it with more coaxing (that time, she was dating someone from a band) since she planned to put up a band - the two of us.  She introduced me to the band 'The Murmurs', and from then on, we practiced singing songs from that duo.

And I remember Mons wishing for a pink guitar.

I remember a time when I was still in DDC that each of us have to present something in Psychology.  The time when I was still thinking of what to do, Mons gathered up my book full of self-made poetry and chose one and started strumming.  The result was me, singing my poem with Mons music.  It was something of a feat, for both of us (although I regret to note that I'm still looking for that lost song).

~ = ~ = ~ = ~ = ~

There was a song from the duo that we were practicing that a neighbor heard (we were practicing in her aunt's house) and told us, it was good.  If only you can see the smile in our faces.  That song is entitled 'Carry Me Home (The Murmurs), and we were murmuring delight, obviously from the praise!

Carry Me Home by The Murmurs

I also remember that was the time we were also thinking of going DJ, and the hoot came out when Mons said something like, 'this is 89.9 Magic FM' (89.9 and Magic FM are two different stations, but I can't remember well what FM stations she mentioned, the stations here are just example).  So you can now conclude when and where our DJ dream started and ended.

Although we never  became DJs and we never truly made a band, I think that what we have is a band of true friendship, built up in years of total confidence and each other's trust, including Rhoda, our other BFF.

We started being friends in elementary, made ninja games together, strummed and sang together, had those awkward stages of growing up and even had the chance to fame through 'Wow Bigat!' (remember the ABS CBN local show) when we won first in a Zest-O dance contest (with Ai-ai our choreographer, Neil and Don) and won the final round - hmmm, I can't remember how much we've won, but I can remember that was the first time I got my period (wink, wink).  It's been a long time, come to think of it, we've been friends for more than 20 years!

We've totally grown apart, but  our hearts have grown together.  We were such good friends in good and in bad and it's one of the things I am thankful of - having two dear friends.  And although now we three are miles apart, our specific band of friendship will definitely carry us back home, again and again.

The Prayer

The Prayer

Let this be our prayer
in my prayer
when shadows fill our day
Lead us to a place, guide us with your grace
Give us faith so we'll be safe

Sognamo un mondo senza pi violenza
un mondo di giustizia e di speranza
Ognuno dia la mano al suo vicino
Simbolo di pace, di fraternit

We dream a world without violence
a world of justice and faith.
Everyone gives the hand to his neighbours
Symbol of peace, of fraternity
La forza che ci d
We ask that life be kind
 il desiderio che
and watch us from above
ognuno trovi amor
We hope each soul will find
intorno e dentro s
another soul to love

The force his gives us
We ask that life be kind
is wish that
and watch us from above
everyone finds love
We hope each soul will find
around and inside
another soul to love
Let this be our prayer
Let this be our prayer, just like every child

Need to find a place, guide us with your grace
Give us faith so we'll be safe
Need to find a place, guide us with your grace
Give us faith so we'll be safe

 la fede che
hai acceso in noi,
sento che ci salver

It's the faith
you light in us
I feel it will save us

Baby It's Cold Outside

When I first heard this in Pandora, I said, this is a nice version from Glee.  Shocked when I saw that it was Chris Colfer who sang the female part!  You rock Chris!

Gwyneth Paltrow Gleeful!

I just love Gwyneth Paltrow.  The first time I heard her sing was in the movie Duets, where she and Huey Lewis sang the song Cruisin'.  Now, I found her singing again (such a talented actress) in Glee in her rendition of Forget You by Cee Lo Green.  Watch and say wow!

Bruised by Jack's Mannequin

I used to listen to this type of music.  When I was younger, my choices ranges within Nirvana to GNR.  I do remember my bestfriend, Moncel and me wanting to create a band of our own like the band made up of two girls we want to emulate (remember The Murmurs, who sang You Suck?).  We would rehearse in her aunt's house, or we would strum our guitars in our houses.

I also remember the time when I made a poem and Moncel  made music out of it.  I remember playing that piece in our Psychology class and I think my classmates were thinking, where did that came from?

The band was just a dream, along with other dreams we shared together but then again, it was a nice try.

Amazing Grace, An A Cappella by Leanne Rimes

A cappella (Italian for In The Manner of The Church) music is solo or group vocal or singing without instrumental sound, or a piece intended to be performed in this way. A cappella was originally intended to differentiate between Renaissance polyphony and Baroque concertato style. In the 19th century a renewed interest in Renaissance polyphony coupled with an ignorance of the fact that vocal parts were often doubled by instrumentalists led to the term coming to mean unaccompanied vocal music. In modern usage, a cappella often refers to an all-vocal group performance of any style, including barbershop, doo wop, and modern pop/rock. Today, a cappella also includes sample/loop "vocal only" productions by producers like Jimmy Spice Curry, Teddy Riley, Wyclef Jean, and other producers.

Sweet Holy Child

Eversince my youngest came out, we use to hum the Sweet Holy Child song as we rock him in his cradle. It's always been that which makes him sleep soundly. It has become one of my favorite Christian songs too.

SWEET HOLY CHILD

Jesus teach me how to pray
Differ not my thoughts to stray
Send destruction far away
Sweet holy child

Let me not be rude or wild
Make me humble, meek and mild
Pure as angels undefined
Sweet holy child

When I work or when I play
No thou with me through the day
Teach me what to do and say
Sweet holy child

Make me worthy mothers blest
Safe beneath thy care to rest
As a bird within its nest
Sweet holy child

Viva pit senor, Sto. Nino…

The Warrior Is A Child

The Warrior is A Child

Lately I've been winning battles left and right
But even winners can get wounded in the fight
People say that I'm amazing
I'm strong beyond my years
But they don't see inside of me
I'm hiding all the tears

Chorus:
They don't know that I come running home when I fall down
They don't know who picks me up when no one is around
I drop my sword and cry for just a while
(Look up for His smile)
'Coz deep inside this armor
The warrior is a child
(Aahhh)

Unafraid because His arrow is the best
But even soldiers need a quiet place to rest
People say that I'm amazing
I never face retreat, oh no
But they don't see the enemies
That lay me at His feet

Chorus:
They don't know that I come running home when I fall down
They don't know who picks me up when no one is around
I drop my sword and cry for just a while
(Look up for His smile)
'Coz deep inside this armor
The warrior is a child
(Aahhh)

They don't know that I come running home when I fall down
They don't know who picks me up when no one is around
I drop my sword and cry for just a while
(Look up for His smile)
'Coz deep inside this armor
The warrior is a child
(Aahhh)
