Alice in Wonderland
Just had to feature this song from the movie Alice in Wonderland. I like it and the fact that this is the first time since we came here in US that we really made the time to watch movie on the big screen - and not just any screen, but a 3D one at that. Thus this video.

Pink in the Grammy
She was so amazing when she did that trapeze that even Oprah was wowed (here's a link to her interview in Oprah, plus another performance featuring the song 'I Don't Believe You'). Me, I've always liked Pink. Her music really does come across with some really cool messages, and her style is quite unique and her own. What makes it more Pink is the fact that her voice is beautiful and she can go beyond being punk and back! Happy MM!

Love Poem
This is just one of the melodies I love from the Korean series Spring Waltz. I remember being taken to the song One Love, and when I discovered the other melodies online, I listen to this music every night for the kids to get lulled into sleep. It does it magic all the time, those instrumentals such as this one does wonders to their zzzz.

Midori No Hibi Ending Song
I actually have a full version of this song, I can't find it in YouTube so I have to settle with this. I didn't know it's part of an anime series because this song was given to me by a friend. I never deleted it because it sounded so nice. All I know was it's Japanese. Easy to hear, if you love it, just leave a note and I'll give you the full mp3.

Till There Was You
Let me introduce you to one of my most favorite song...this song symbolizes a love story of two people, who at one time in their lives, did not know how much they were meant for each other until this song, awakened one of them...
There were bells on a hill but I never heard it ringing. No, I never heard it at all, till there was you. There were birds in the sky but i never saw them winging. No, I never saw them at all, till there was you. Then there was music and wonderful roses, they tell me in a sweet fragrant meadows of dawn, and you. There was love all around but I never heard them singing. No, I never heard them at all, till there was...YOU.

Old Photographs
My friend emailed me today and reminded me of what I've been missing: HOME. I've traveled far from home, and although I've been this far - there's nothing like the cozy comfy house that you call your own, surrounded by people you love and who loves you. With old friends who knew your jokes but never get tired of hearing them. And of places that you know your way around even if you close your eyes. Like an old photograph, these thoughts brings a smile to your face.

Taylor Swift's You Belong To Me
Girls now go ga-ga over the newest sensation and winner, Taylor Swift. Truth is, I never was interested in another stream of teenage singers who will come and be gone.
But then again, I'd be lying if I tell I don't like Britney's music or Christina Aguilera coz I do. I even have a thing with Miley Cyrus and Hannah Montana (kids!).
Going back to Taylor. I have not entirely seen her videos, just overheard some of her songs played on the radio. What I did see, was a YouTube skit and parody of her song 'Love Story' (have any of you seen it, protrayed by man pretending to be a woman which I saw in FB, which till now, puts a smile on our faces as we hear Love Story song).
So, curious, I made time hearing her songs and music videos, and I fell inlove with 'You Belong To Me'. It was soooo cute!!!
And of course, it won't be perfect if not with its parody. Cool!

Everything I Do
This is a favorite, and reminds me of my high school days...don't you just love Bryan Adams? This was part of the soundtrack of the movie Robinhood - Prince of Thieves.

Wedding Song
I am a big fan of instrumental music. My first appreciation of this type was when I bought the tape of Kenny G's Breathless. This song was included in that album, and until this time, this is one of my most favorite albums. There's so much emotion in this melody, and the love can be felt. Listen to this melody with closed eyes, and you will know what I mean (it's part of the music I play for my kids to lull them to sleep).

MoonRiver
I LOVE THIS SONG. Every time I hear this song, I go all poignant and I feel peace within me. We had a CD of this one by Andy Williams, and I love the instrumental piece too. I never knew that this was a part of the Breakfast at Tiffany's, I only knew of that fact when I was watching Kate and Leopold since there was a scene there that an old man listen to the same song every night at 12 midnight and sleep afterwards when the music stops. So, romantic.
I have three versions here, one from the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's with Audrey Hepburn and the other one was acoustic- I don't know who sang it but I love it! (And the last one is piano instrumental). Take your pick!

Moon River, wider than a mile,
I'm crossing you in style some day.
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker,
wherever you're going I'm going your way.
Two drifters off to see the world.
There's such a lot of world to see.
We're after the same rainbow's end--
waiting 'round the bend,
my huckleberry friend,
Moon River and me.
I'm crossing you in style some day.

The Climb
Eversince I heard this song, I just love it! From the series turned movie Hannah Montana (not a fan, but my kids always, always watch her show), turned out that this kid of Billy Cyrus got more fame!
I love the song because I can relate. It's when you are trying to reach your dream, in taking chances, in taking risks, when you feel that you're almost there living your dream, all of a sudden you faltered. Then it will come all of a sudden to you - what am I doing here? Asking yourself if this is the life you want to live, or if you're really living the dream that you hoped for.
Then, all can seem so overwhelming, then you just grip on your faith and keep on moving. Then, as the song goes, it's not how fast you get there, or what the outcome might be, but the journey. Yeah, the times when we remember things, we remember the moments - the things you've done trying to get where you want to be.

Healing
I was commuting when I heard this song in the radio and I totally agree with what this time is all about. This time is all about healing. A time to make amends with what we've done and what we are about to do. Happy Easter everyone!
HEALINGNow that we have gotten through
One more fall
I can just admit I've got it all
Cause I do
Cause I've got you
We've crossed these battle lines too many times
It passes through the heart
But it never leaves a mark
Cause Your love just keeps on healing me
No matter how I bruise
If I just trust You
Your love just keeps on healing me
One more cure
One more chance that wasn't there before
In your arms
no pain can harm the way im feeling
Lord I know that Your love is healing
I've kicked around those lines in my head
But I never listened to the words that You said
See where it's lead
Well I know I have it now
Cause You showed me how
And all I had to do
Was just to keep my eyes on You
Cause Your love just keeps on healing me
No matter how I bruise
If I just trust You
Your love just keeps on healing me
One more cure
One more chance that wasnt there before
In your arms
no pain can harm the way im feeling
Lord I know that Your love is healing
(break)
Cause Your love just keeps on healing me
No matter how I bruise
If I just trust You
Your love just keeps on healing me
One more clue
One more chance that wasnt there before
In your arms
no pain can harm the way im feeling
Lord I know that Your love is healing

Big Girls Don't Cry
Heard this again in ASAP and I appreciated the lyrics when I read it...It's about growing up and standing with two feet on the ground, taking everything slowly, not hastily...

The smell of your skin lingers on me now
You're probably on your flight back to your home town
I need some shelter of my own protection, baby
To be with myself and center
Clarity, peace, serenity
I hope you know, I hope you know
That this has nothing to do with you
It's personal, myself and I
We've got some straightenin' out to do
And I'm gonna miss you like a child misses their blanket
But I've got to get a move on with my life
It's time to be a big girl now
And big girls don't cry
Don't cry, don't cry, don't cry
The path that I'm walkin', I must go alone
I must take the baby steps 'til I'm full grown, full grown
Fairy tales don't always have a happy ending, do they?
And I foresee the dark ahead if I stay
I hope you know, I hope you know
That this has nothing to with you
It's personal, myself and I
We've got some straightenin' out to do
And I'm gonna miss you like a child misses their blanket
But I've got to get a move on with my life
It's time to be a big girl now
And big girls don't cry
Like the little school mate in the school yard
We'll play jacks and Uno cards
I'll be your best friend and you'll be mine
Valentine
Yes, you can hold my hand if you want to
'Cause I want to hold yours too
We'll be playmates and lovers
And share our secret worlds
But it's time for me to go home
It's getting late, dark outside
I need to be with myself, and center
Clarity, peace, serenity
I hope you know, I hope you know
That this has nothing to do with you
It's personal, myself and I
We've got some straightenin' out to do
And I'm gonna miss you like a child misses their blanket
But I've got to get a move on with my life
It's time to be a big girl now
And big girls don't cry
Don't cry, don't cry, don't cry

Mamma Mia!
I attended a baptismal last week (a celebration for another baby in the family) and it was ok. And as usual, food was good. Don’t we just love celebrations? Mostly because of food…not just any food, but good food. Yumyum.
Anyway, I watched Mamma Mia this evening and I just love the songs! It was all Abba and I like the way how smooth it blended with the script. It’s exactly (if I have to term it better than being apt).
The story was all about a daughter in search for her father – the thing is, she doesn’t have any idea which among the three persons written in her mother’s diary (which she discovered). And one of them will giver away on her wedding day. Okay, it’s kinda confusing as I write this one, but you better watch to find out. All I can say is that, I enjoyed watching it and hearing the songs!
PLOT
20-year-old Sophie Sheridan (Amanda Seyfried) lives with her mother Donna (Meryl Streep) in her hotel ‘Villa Donna’, on the small Greek island of Kalokairi. She wants her father present at her upcoming wedding to Sky (Dominic Cooper), but does not know his identity (I Have a Dream). Sophie confides in her friends Ali (Ashley Lilley) and Lisa (Rachel McDowall) about her potential fathers. After reading her mother's old diary, she has concluded he must be one of three men: Sam Carmichael (Pierce Brosnan), Harry Bright (Colin Firth), or Bill Anderson (Stellan SkarsgĂ„rd) (Honey, Honey). She secretly sends wedding invitations to all three – under Donna’s name and that she expects to recognize her real father instantly, but when she meets all the men at once, she realizes she cannot tell which he is. She hides them from her mother and makes them promise not to reveal she invited them to the wedding.
Meanwhile, Donna bemoans to her newly-arrived friends Rosie (Julie Walters) and Tanya (Christine Baranski) the troubles of running and repairing a hotel by herself (Money, Money, Money), although she insists she is happier alone. While making repairs, she accidentally discovers the three men and panics. While trying to get another look at them and fighting a losing battle of desire versus sanity (Mamma Mia!), she falls through the trapdoor in the roof, and the men convince her that their presence there is a coincidence, honoring their promise to Sophie. A horrified Donna asks the three men to leave the island.
Tanya and Rosie try to comfort Donna after seeing her upset (Chiquitita). Donna explains that the three potential fathers are on the island, dubbing it a ‘hideous trick of fate’. Tanya and Rosie, who used to be her backing dancers in ABBA-esque girl group “Donna and the Dynamos”, remind her of her free-spirited past, and they gradually cheer her up spectacularly (Dancing Queen).
Sophie visits the three men as they prepare to leave Kalokairi, persuades them to stay for the wedding, and listens to their memories of her mother (Our Last Summer). She returns to Sky and they talk about their love (Lay All Your Love On Me) on the beach, where he is ambushed by friends from his bachelor party.
That evening, “Donna and the Dynamos” recreate their act for Sophie’s bachelorette party (Super Trouper) to entertain the guests, and Bill, Sam and Harry end up at the party by mistake. The bachelorettes pounce on the unsuspecting men at the bar (Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!).
Sophie talks to Bill alone, who realizes he could be her father, (The Name of the Game) and agrees to give her away at the wedding. Meanwhile, the others also conclude that they could be her father. Sky's bachelor party invades the hen party (Voulez-Vous), and in the commotion, each ‘father’ separately tells her that he will give her away at the wedding. In the midst of the party, Sophie faints over her dilemma.
The following day, while Donna’s friends are trying to keep the men away from the wedding, Sophie and Donna argue, as Sophie believes her mother wants her to call off the wedding, while she still resents growing up unaware of her father’s identity.
Harry feels badly for missing Sophie's upbringing, and insists that Donna accept a large monetary gift to cover the “cost of the wedding”. Sam and Donna try to talk but are increasingly frustrated with each other, and they separately lament their lost love (SOS). Tanya rejects the playful advances of younger barman Pepper (Philip Michael) and some of Sky's other friends (Does Your Mother Know).
Sophie confesses to Sky what she has done, and he becomes unsure about their coming wedding, feeling sidelined by her ‘fathers’. A distressed Sophie asks her mother if she will help her dress for the wedding (instead of her bridesmaids) and Donna agrees, thrilled. Donna reminisces about precious times to get her now grown-up daughter (Slipping Through My Fingers). Sophie asks her mother to give her away at the wedding.
En route, Donna rebuffs Sam, as she is still deeply hurt that he left her (The Winner Takes It All) and offers him to sing with her because he was engaged to another woman. She then runs away to her daughter’s wedding on the hilltop.
During the ceremony, Donna reveals that Sophie’s father (although she doesn’t know who) is present, and then realizes Sophie had invited them all. The three men declare they are all thrilled to be Sophie’s potential father, and will gladly be ‘a third of a father each’. Sophie cancels the wedding, to Sky’s delight, so that they can go traveling together instead, as they still feel too young to settle down.
Making the most of the surroundings, Sam declares he is still in love with Donna, and proposes, explaining that after leaving her 20 years ago, he went to England to break off his engagement, but returned to Kalokairi to be told she was away dating another man (Bill). He went home and got married anyway, but he is now divorced. Donna eventually says yes after learning the truth (I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do).
While Sam and Donna celebrate with their newfound family and friends (When All Is Said and Done), Rosie pursues her attraction to the (initially reluctant) Bill, (Take a Chance on Me), and it is revealed that Harry is gay. As the crowd dances in the courtyard, a tremor breaks open its central mosaic, and a tall spray rains over the party (Mamma Mia! reprise). Sophie and Sky sail away on their travels (I Have a Dream reprise), leaving Sam and Donna to live happily ever after on the island.
During the end, Donna and the Dynamos perform "Dancing Queen", and the main cast join with Waterloo. Amanda Seyfried sings Thank You for the Music over the end and every part of the credits in the world.
