This was such a funny incident for me as I recall it.
Being a newbie here in Uncle Sam, I was not accustomed to some of the words used here that one incident was embarrassing and I kept remembering it. Hubby asked me to buy burger at Burger King. He specifically told me that I should buy the one that's with jalapeno with it. So, there I was at the counter, making my choices and told the cashier/attendant the burger that's HOT. The cashier was confused so I told him that I wanted a burger with jalapeno. He smiled and said, ah, you mean SPICY? Toink! Yeah, that's right! And so I had the spicy hamburger.
You see, where I came from, hot and spicy can mean the same thing colloquially. I didn't think for one minute that hot here can mean, you're so hot, and that's entirely a different thing!!! Funny, but I didn't exactly have that desire with a burger even when I look at it - even how hungry I was. Poof!
