Road Safety

It's been three days since hubby had an car accident that he survived with only a fractured clavicle.  It was in itself a miracle since the car as he said was in wreck, there was a blunt impact and both drivers and passengers, safe.

At this time, I am still in a bit of shock and I do not know what to think with what have happened.  It is an obvious fact that our lives can be taken in a blink of an eye, we don't know for sure when and how, but we are vulnerable to anything and everything and only luck and God's mercy can change that.

It goes without saying that even if you are trying to be safe, the others might not.

It may be now my hubby's second life, and we are thankful.

But, he is recuperating.  To say that he's now ok is comforting, but I know that he is still in a lot of pain.  Sprain is painful, imagine having a broken bone.

Having a fracture like a shoulder bone would take about three weeks to one month of healing.  And it would take three months before you totally mobilize or use the affected area, but you can only do as much as lift a light load.  Although clavicle fracture is a common thing, it doesn't have to be taken lightly.  For the body to heal completely, it has to have enough rest and pump with Cs to help the healing process.

With car accidents, there's no way to say that being a safe driver makes it safe.  Because even a safe driver can get into accidents if the other driver isn't being safe.  The only weapon we got is pray before driving and be very attentive and alert to everything going on when on the road.

I may have been a bit off now with driving, but it took me a lot of time before I had the courage to drive again.

I had my own driving accident when I was still a teenager when I sneak out our car and I only had a permit.  That was a long time lesson, one that made me stop driving but when I got here and thought how necessary is to drive, my hands are up and I gave up on the idea of not driving.

Now I already had my license and driving and knowing how it went with my defensive driving hubby, did not budge my courage.  I guess its necessity.  Well, if you're in Texas, you can't imagine yourself walking all the time anyway.
